Lilies

In early 2023, shortly before my 94th birthday, I created the LILIES series of acrylic paintings. I was in the mood to create a new series of flower paintings following my recent series of SUNFLOWERS and of LOTUSES. Many decades earlier, I had been struck by the beauty of the tiger lilies that grew in our yard in Newton, Massachusetts, and I had painted a tiger lily then. Although I was now legally blind, I felt that I could still express the beauty of lilies by stenciling and through the use of bright primary and secondary colors.
